How to Request a Lost Pet Post

Please note that requests for new posts or information updates will be accepted only directly from the owner of the pet in question.

To request that a pet be posted at lostkatrinapets.com, please have a look at some of the existing cases to get an idea of how they are composed, then send an email to lostkatrinapets@magma.ca with the following:

  • your "lost" Petfinder#, which you obtained when you filed the lost report at http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/ (if you have not done that already, please do so BEFORE requesting a post to Lost Katrina Pets)
  • a description of your animal, including as much information as possible such as color, breed (if relevant) size, sex, spayed/neutered, distinguishing features, long/short hair, smooth/rough coat, tags, collars, microchip information (if you know the animal was chipped but don't have the records, mention it anyway, and who chipped the animal if possible). Please write in sentence format, not bullet or point form.
  • information on the animal's last known location
  • circumstances of the animal's disappearance (known rescue from house, escape, etc.)
  • if you have found a "found" animal at Petfinder that you believe may be your pet, but no location is provided (i.e. "lost in the system"), please provide that PF# also.
  • a photograph if possible. If a photograph is not possible, be as descriptive as possible about your animal (are his/her ears floppy or erect, tail fluffy or smooth, any known broken teeth etc.)
  • contact information: as much as possible. If you prefer to keep some private, tell us what you do and do not want posted to the Web site, but please provide for our records us as many contact points as possible (email, phone, cell) so that if one of them goes out of service/changes we can reach you other ways.
  • please put your pet's name in the subject line of the email (as well as in the body of the message)
  • if you are looking for more than one animal, please send only ONE email PER ANIMAL to avoid confusion -- we're so easily confused! :-)
